3 questions:

  • What motivated you to join this partnership?

ideas42’s mission is to make the world healthier, wealthier, more just and more sustainable using behavioral science. But we can’t achieve our mission alone. We're committed to building a community of behavioral scientists, practitioners, and problem-solvers to help magnify impact. We know a key to our success will be helping as many public servants/governments, non profits, and mission-aligned businesses as possible to infuse effective behavioral insights in their work, so we can all contribute to building a better world.

  • What aspect of the research agenda are you most excited about?

We're most excited about taking a deep dive into multiple sectors, academic theories and disciplines, and types of behavioral applications in the service of building a comprehensive framework for behavior change. There are also a few long-standing issues that we're hoping to tackle with this research--right now there's a lot of siloing  in academia, the behavioral science literature does not currently have a natural taxonomy, and there are massive gaps between academia and practice. The comprehensive behavior change framework will help tackle all of these issues, especially the translation from research to practice.

  • How do you plan to use the results from the research coming out of the partnership?

In so many ways! Part of our approach includes educating others about how and when to use behavioral insights in problem-solving, and the resulting tools from this partnership will help us help other behavioral science enthusiasts, present and future, identify opportunities for incorporating behavioral insights in their work. These tools will be massively useful in helping us chart a path to making behavioral insights a core part of other organizations' operations, which directly supports our mission.
